Dear ASFG Parents,
The well-being of children and adolescents is a shared responsibility among families, schools, and society as a whole. This is expressed in the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child.”
For the past several years, ASFG has shared communications with our parent community to raise awareness about child protection, highlight the school’s safeguarding efforts, and provide information about laws that protect children and adolescents from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse and neglect. We are proud to share that, as a result of our comprehensive practices and ongoing training in child protection and safety, ASFG was recently recognized with the Tri-Association Child Protection & Safeguarding Badge, which is now visible on our school website.
The school's commitment is ongoing, as reflected in our actions this school year thus far:
Counselors have provided child protection training to all faculty and staff, ensuring they are prepared to identify, respond to, and report concerns of suspected abuse.
All school employees have signed the Code of Conduct, which reinforces their responsibility to safeguard children and adolescents.
Our Early Childhood–12th grade comprehensive sexuality education curriculum continues to emphasize self-care, healthy relationships, and sexual abuse prevention, complemented by informational meetings for parents about this program.
As part of ASFG’s Home-School Partnership Series, we are pleased to introduce two new obligatory parent meetings this school year focused on child protection and abuse prevention:
Kinder Parent Meeting – Protecting Childhood: Child Protection Laws and Positive Parenting
November 18, 7:00–8:30 p.m.
November 19, 8:00–9:30 a.m.
2nd Grade Parent Meeting – Understanding to Protect: An Overview of Child Sexual Abuse
January 18, 2027, 8:30–10:00 a.m.
January 19, 2027, 7:00–8:30 p.m.
We would also like to remind our community that Mexican law prohibits corporal punishment of children and adolescents, including spanking, and establishes that children must be disciplined and cared for without violence. As a school, we have a responsibility to promote children’s safety and well-being and to respond appropriately when we become aware of or have concerns about possible corporal punishment or other forms of violence.
We encourage families to use positive parenting strategies that set clear and consistent limits while helping children understand expectations, manage emotions, and learn from their behavior without the use of physical punishment or humiliation. If you are interested in learning more about positive parenting strategies or would like to speak with someone about questions or concerns related to your child’s well-being, please reach out to your child’s counselor. Their contact information is provided below. You can also explore the offerings available through the Warrior Parent Academy.
