The American School Foundation of Guadalajara, A.C. is proud to announce the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2026.
The Valedictorian award is earned by the student in the graduating class with the highest cumulative grade point average for grades 9 through 12. The Salutatorian award is earned by the student in the graduating class with the second-highest cumulative grade point average for grades 9 through 12.
The Class of 2026 Valedictorian is Héctor Manuel Vielma Paredes, son of Mrs. Cinthya Paredes Solís and Mr. Héctor Vielma Ordóñez. Héctor is an AP Scholar with Distinction and has attended ASFG since elementary school. As a student, he served as captain of the boys’ basketball team and was elected to the high school student council. Héctor was also an active participant in TECHO and a member of the student group responsible for organizing the 2026 construction project. In addition, he completed the Students Shoulder-to-Shoulder Applied Ethical Leadership Internship, focusing on the prevalence of litter in public spaces. Continuing this line of work, he conducted research studying the impact that the presence of trash cans has on the amount of litter within a specified area. Héctor plans to study Engineering Sciences with Public Policy at Dartmouth College.
The Class of 2026 Salutatorian is Haoxuan (Ciro) Wang, son of Mrs. Xin Yu Ren and Mr. Zhiyong Wang. Ciro has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction, has earned the AP International Diploma, and will receive the AP Capstone Diploma this summer. During his time at ASFG, Ciro served as Software Co-Captain of the Robotics Team, helping the team win regional and national competitions before representing Mexico internationally at the Maryland Tech Invitational. Additionally, Ciro served as Co-President of the Production Club and founded his band, Wrec’d, with his friends. Outside of school, Ciro interned at Slalom Consulting, where he worked on a public policy project for SEDECO and drafted proposals for investment hubs aimed at boosting Jalisco’s GDP and reducing regional inequality. As a recipient of the prestigious Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship, Ciro plans to study Data Science at the University of Toronto.
