This conference will present evidence-based insights on the impact of smartphone and social media use on the socioemotional and academic development of children and adolescents. National and international regulatory frameworks will be examined, and a collective action strategy for parents will be proposed, aiming to delay access to these technologies in order to safeguard the mental health and well-being of young people.
✨ Highlights include:
The early use of smartphones and social media can harm the emotional, social, and academic development of children and adolescents
Public policies in several countries restrict children's access to social media and smartphone use in school settings to protect their mental health
Neurological maturity is a key factor in the responsible use of digital technologies
Cultural change begins at home: Families can come together to establish collective boundaries and better protect their children in the digital age
