No Classes for Students - Professional Development Day

Dear ASFG Families,

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year. I hope you had a wonderful and restful vacation.

This year marks my first school year as the full-time Head of Inclusion and Belonging, and I am truly excited about the plans we have in place for our students, families, and staff, all aimed at strengthening a community where inclusion and belonging are an essential part of our culture.

One of the first events I’d like to share with you is the upcoming visit of Dr. Derrick Gay, a valued collaborator of our school who brings a wealth of experience and an international perspective. Dr. Gay will be working with us on intercultural competency throughout three scheduled visits this school year.

During his first visit, on August 25 and 26, he will focus exclusively on intensive professional development sessions for our teaching and administrative staff. As a result, Monday, August 25 will be a professional development day for all faculty, and there will be no classes for students across all sections.

In his second visit, in November, Dr. Gay will work with the entire ASFG community, including students, staff, and parents, to further our collective growth in intercultural competency.

Thank you in advance for your support and collaboration as we continue to build a more inclusive, empathetic, and united school community.

Sincerely,
Patricia Martí Damm
Head of Inclusion and Belonging
