Staying Cool: Warm Weather at ASFG (La versión en español se encuentra al final)
Dear ASFG parents,
As we come into the warmer months, we want to assure our families that we are taking thoughtful measures to keep students comfortable while maintaining an environmentally responsible approach to cooling.
Natural Ventilation & Thermal Mass in the Upper School Building
In our Upper School building, we are leveraging natural ventilation and thermal mass principles to regulate indoor temperatures efficiently. By strategically opening and closing windows at different times of the day and taking advantage of the building's materials to absorb and release heat, we can create a naturally cooler environment. For more details on this approach, please refer to the procedure outlined here.
A Look Back: February's Warm Weather Preparations
In our February newsletter, we shared information on how to prepare for rising temperatures, including hydration tips and appropriate clothing for students. If you missed that article, you can find it here.
No Additional Fans Needed in Classrooms
We kindly ask that parents do not send fans to elementary and middle school classrooms. Each classroom that does not have an air conditioning unit is equipped with air coolers and ceiling fans, which provide a controlled cooling solution.
Additional fans can disrupt the efficiency of our cooling systems and may create safety concerns.
Keeping Cool: Tips for Students
To help students stay comfortable throughout the day, we recommend:
Sending a
refillable water bottle
to encourage hydratio
n. Th
ere are drinking fountains on campus for refill convenience.
Dressing in
light, breathable clothing
. Fabrics such as cotton are recommended.
Packing a
hat and sunscreen
for outdoor activities.
Reminding students to
seek shade and take breaks
during recess.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a cool, safe, and comfortable learning environment for all students. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the business.office@asfg.edu.mx.
